In the world of WI speakers Debbie Towlson’s cookery demonstrations are a bit of a legend because her talks never disappoint. When she broached the subject of trialing a knife skills demo with us we were a little concerned it could be a bit ”dry” but we needn’t have worried. Who knew the art of preparing vegetables—using the correct knives and techniques—could be both informative and so entertaining? It was a hands-down winner! Of course it was also, in no small part, down to our wonderful “guinea pigs” who were prepared to have a go. As the smell of onions and garlic gently wafted across the room our willing volunteers got to work slicing, dicing, chopping and crushing, under Debbie’s watchful eye, and what a fantastic job they did. Thanks to our Guinea Pig Gals for being the stars of the show and providing us with a lot of laughs. You’ll never look at an onion in the same way again!
